The main feature of shared games is the community cards, which are common for all players at the table. The community cards can be used by all players for forming hands. When playing Texas Holdem each player receives 2 cards face down. 5 more cards are dealt face down on the table. They are called community cards. When the cards are dealt players make bets and then the dealer turns up 3 community cards. Then there is one more betting round. Then the dealer turns up one more community card and players make bets. The last card is flipped, a final round if betting ensues, and finally a showdown in which players make their best hands using their two pocket cards and the table's five shared cards. The winner is the player with the highest hand.
